The Center for Accessibility at Radford University is
looking for a dynamic colleague to fill thieir open position of the Coordinator
for Deaf and Hard of Hearing. The
primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: coordinating deaf and
hard of hearing services for students, family members and visitors campus-wide;
supervise and mentor hourly wage interpreters and oversee contracted vendor
communication services; may provide interpreting services for academic courses
and university events, as needed.
Finally, the person in this position would successfully manage a
caseload through providing accommodations to students with various
disabilities.
This position requires a Virginia Quality Assurance
Screening level III or higher OR Education Interpreter Performance Assessment
level 3. A Certification through a
National Professional Organization which demonstrates knowledge in the
interpreting field, ethical decision-making, and one-on-on interpreting service
provision is a must.
Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education,
training and work experience in Interpreting, Deaf Education, Special Education,
Social Work, Counselor Education or related field. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience working with individuals with
disabilities in a medical, vocational, or mental health field, preference given
to experience in the higher education setting.
