We’ve all heard about TERPexpo – conventions, CEUs,
workshops, presenters, stuff like that – but not many know about its origins.
Here’s a blurb they have on their site:
“TERPexpo was created in 2008 by a group of people including
Jon Ziev (an event management professional), his gorgeous ex-wife Amy (a
Sign Language Interpreter in the community for more than 20 years), as well as
several friends involved in the field of deafness.
Since Jon is a professional event manager, many have asked
him over the years to consider an unique concept of establishing a conference
that is specifically for Interpreters. There are several other
conferences that focus on the Deaf but none for the interpreters! In
doing so, a key goal was to have interpreters take advantage of earning CEUs in
an affordable and enjoyable environment. Thus...the creation of TERPexpo!
After 10 years, Jon Ziev is retiring from TERPexpo. The 2019
season will be his last season. Taking on the coordinating of TERPexpo will be
Dr. Alan Marcus & his wife, Kari Marcus. Starting in the 2019-2020 season
Alan and Kari will be taking over TERPexpo. For this season, Alan has
been working hard to secure new presenters for the 2019 season. To ensure a
smooth transition Jon Ziev has been mentoring them both. Kari and Alan are confident
that they will learn everything they can from Jon to ensure everything goes
smoothly, keeping TERPexpo running for years to come!”
